Basenji Rescue Center

The DFW Basenji Club Rescue Center provides the latest information
regarding Basenji rescue opportunities in and around the metroplex.

Chloe & Tabor | Guinness | More

For more information about these animals, contact our Rescue Chair.

We currently have the following two dogs in our rescue program...

Chloe is a red & white female basenji, and Tabor is a male brindle basenji. We are looking for a home that will take both of them, as they have been together their entire lives.

Chloe and Tabor started life in California, at a breeder's home.  They were sold to a couple in their early 20's, both in college and living in an apartment. After four years the couple had to move to the DFW area and live with family who already had several dogs, including a pit bull, so they contacted the DFW Basenji Club Rescue program to find their beloved pets a good home.

After fostering Chloe & Tabor for a few weeks, we placed them with a lovely family in the Austin area.  Unfortunately, they contacted us with sad news that there was a very serious illness in their family and they could no longer give the dogs the care and attention they needed.  Chloe & Tabor returned to Dallas to find a new home through the DFWBC.

Chloe & Tabor are wonderfully behaved basenjis.  They are affectionate couch potatoes who love to cuddle while watching TV.  Chloe like to play fetch, and Tabor likes to chase thrown toys. They are used to being left out in the house when nobody is home to supervise them (we do recommend crating them until they become comfortable in their new home, however).  Both get along well with other dogs.

Chloe & Tabor are current on vaccinations, have tested negative for heartworms and are on Heartguard Plus.  Last teeth cleaning was in March 2008. If you are interested in Chloe and Tabor, please contact the DFWBC Rescue Chairman, Karlene Schoonover.

Guinness
Guinness

Guinness is a 4-year-old Basenji. He was rescued and brought to Operation Kindness for a second chance at life and to be cared for by a new companion friend or family. We recommend bringing along any dogs you have at home for an introduction with Guinness because he may want to be the alpha in the group.

A Basenji is a very unique dog that doesn't bark like a typical dog; however, they do yodel. This is not a breed for a novice dog owner. The Basenji needs a home with an owner who will be able to spend time with it. We do not recommend apartments because he needs lots of room to exercise. Pet ID 56782

If you are interested in Guinness, please contact the DFWBC Rescue Chairman, Karlene Schoonover.
